About this Course

Overview

The Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Population Studies is intended for students with an under­ graduate degree in the social sciences. The programme is designed to equip students with key concepts applied skills that will enable them to understand and participate in the processes and structures of population policy formulation and implementation. After completing the programme, students will have a deeper understanding of major theoretical arguments that explain population trends, whilst acquiring expertise in technical aspects of demographic analysis.

The program is structured in nature, and is designed to create a balance between theory and practice as It applied to the field of population studies.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must be degree holders with a 65% Aggregate. Good English writing skills and an ability to communicate, orally, in English, which is the medium of instruction, is essential. Relevant work experience is an added advantage. While we invite applications from a variety of backgrounds, those with degrees in Development, Economics, Economic History, Human Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Planning, Community Development, Psychology, Social Work, or Agriculture are particularly suited.
